We are looking for an Oracle Systems Engineer to support the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Dayton, OH. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for effective provisioning, operation, installation/configuration and maintenance of systems hardware/software/related infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support, guidance and hands-on delivery in the planning, implementation and ongoing operation of databases.
  • The Systems Engineer shall participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
  • Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and regulatory requirements.
  • The Systems Engineer shall document specifications, project plans, configurations, test plans and results.
  • Depicts complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and status to project teams.
  • Full understanding and proficiency in implementing backup and recovery operations utilizing RMAN to ensure data protection, redundancy and disaster recovery over network
  • Full understanding and expertise in understanding Oracle Database architecture, including logical and physical design, data modeling, normalization, indexing, partitioning, and database options such as Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) and Oracle Data Guard.
  • Experience with Oracle High Availability solutions and technologies for ensuring database availability, failover, and data protection.
  • Proficiency and understanding network fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls, and remote access solutions, and being fully competent to configure network settings for Oracle Database servers,
    including IP address, subnet masks, gateways, protocols and encryption.
  • Understanding and experience with database links and replication mechanisms for connecting
    Oracle Databases across network environment and synchronizing data between distributed databases and can facilitate load balancing and failover where required.
  • Has demonstrated and has strong communication and collaborations skills that shows ability to
    perform in high pressure situations and has experience handling critical business incidents in professional manner with adaptability and resilience to unexpected challenges both calmly and
    efficiently.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of overall professional experience in the engineering field.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Oracle and/or SQL server database administration and analysis support.
  • Five (5) years of experience working with DoD of Federal IT Systems
Personnel shall be fully trained and experienced with combination of technical skills, knowledge, and personal attributes, including but not limited to the following:
  • Hands on working experience and proficiencies in Oracle database technologies and administration, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management in virtual cloud environments.
  • Proficiency and full familiarity of the Linux/Unix operating system environment where Oracle databases are deployed, including the ability to write and update shell scripts, perform file system management and Oracle database administration tasks and assignments without supervision.
  • Shall have ability to identify, diagnose and troubleshoot  performance issues to tune and implement performance-enhancing features.
  • Expertise with Oracle Enterprise Monitoring (OEM 13c) database monitoring, diagnostic, and performance tuning tools.
  • Expert knowledge and practical experience within DoD IT database management technology stacks, responsible for planning and implementing database and/or Application Server implementations.
  • Engineer must have demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and negotiating large sized technology projects in support of business initiatives.
  • Experienced in initiating, planning, mentoring, executing, controlling, and delivery of working projects.
Minimum Experience: 
  • Five (5) years progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MS-SQL.
  • Also has at least three years hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems.
  • Experience also shall include capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages.
  • Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database. 
  • Expert with enterprise Oracle database software and application products, Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2. 
Also requires experience serving in the following roles:
  • Database Architect
  • Replication Expert
  • Database Encryption Expert
  • LDAP/Certificate Authentication Expert
  • Disaster Recovery/COOP expert
  • Database Security Expert
  • High Availability Expert

Security/Certification Requirements: 

Sensitivity Level: IT-I – Critical Sensitive 
Clearance: Secret, with Top Secret Clearance investigation completed
DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II 

Computing Environment: OCP18 ; OCM18; GSOC; DB2; ; MCITP DBA; MCITP DBD; MCM: MCA: 
MS SQL Server, MCSE:DP, MCSM:DP, M2012 SQL; Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified 
Professional (OCP) 19; OCM18; DB2; MCSE:SQL Server or MCSA: SQL Server and higher, or Azure Database Associate and higher
