Traveling Server Admin/Installation Support (Oracle Sparc Solaris)

Job Summary:

SIS is actively seeking a team of 4 Oracle/Solaris Server Administrators to join our firm. These positions are based out of our Dayton, Ohio office and traveling (Monday - Thursday) positions. Over the next four months you will be responsible for server installation support to meet government requirements at 30 locations across the continental United States. The team will travel in pairs, replace T5140 servers and connect and configure the new Oracle T7-1 servers for use on the government network in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards and requirements. This includes provisioning local Solaris containers and database applications.  

Other duties:

  • Unbox and rack servers using the standard rack mounting kits included in the orders in the specified locations/racks at each office.
  • install miscellaneous wiring components in order to connect the server to the network. Install CAT-6 cabling as required for each server; for new cable runs, use CAT-6 Plenum cabling and terminate according to ANSI/TIA-568-B.2-2001.
  • Apply cable management best business practices by ensuring all connections are properly labeled and patch cabling neatly dressed.
  • Label each patch panel socket and switch port identifying which patch panel socket runs to which switch port.
  • Image and configure new servers as Oracle hosts in accordance to ACE-IT Enterprise standard configurations (ref. CWMS Database T7 Migration Rev 1.3, CWMS Application T7 Migration - rev 1.2).
  • The contractor shall communicate with the customer via the project manager to insure availability and functionality after installation.
  • The contractor shall perform all work per government Standards and STIG compliance (ref. UNIX Standard Build Procedure checklist).

Required Skills:

  • Education: BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university
  • (5) or more years of progressive MINIMUM, relevant experience
  • Experience working in a DOD or government agency environment
  • Experience with Oracle/Solaris required

Desired Certifications:

  • Security+ certification a plus NOT required
