Job Summary: 

SIS is looking for an outstanding individual to fill our position of Systems Administrator for the United States Air Force Research Laboratory Data Center located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio. This person will join a very talented and established team of SIS employees supporting a robust environment supporting Enterprise Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) and User Support for the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) resources.  

Primary Job Duties:

  • Maintain and management all DREN RDT&E Linux workstations, RDT&E Windows Systems, and SecureView Workstations and Servers
  • Provide users support including user account management and troubleshooting of network and application issues
  • Work with primary administrators in daily operations, system health, and system monitoring
  • Enter, track, and resolve user support issues with ticket tracking system
  • Participate in requirements analysis team activities
  • Utilize Continuous Monitoring (SIEM) system to monitor hosts and traffic with the environment
  • Installation and configuration of inventory clients and logged information
  • Perform project tasks in accordance with an integrated master schedule, and provide status
  • Develop overall system documentation for installation and configuration of remote hosts

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience setting up and configuring various Linux systems
  • Linux experience preferred includes Scientific Linux, RedHat (RHEL), CentOS, and Ubuntu
  • Good understanding of PKI or certificate authentication
  • Secure File Transfer (SFTP) for persistent and non-persistent large file transfer
  • Secure Shell File System (SSHFS) for customer interactions on remote servers 
  • Experience with Continuous Monitoring, SIEM, or troubleshooting tools a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong oral and written skills (ability to create checklists and support documentation)
  • Dedication to following and enforcing compliance with DOD and Air Force regulations

Education / Certifications / Experience: 

  • Minimum 4 years’ professional experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associates degree or less acceptable with additional experience
  • Must possess one of the following: CompTIA Security+ or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) or ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) 
  • Must possess CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or equivalent
  • US citizenship is mandatory
  • < > must possess a Department of Defense (DOD) Top Secret level clearance
